How to Cope with Anxiety

Anxiety can be described as a sense of uneasiness or discomfort in reaction to a seemingly dangerous or stressful situations. But when we feel anxiety too often, it is overwhelming and can be unhealthy. Today’s page provides simple ways to help when this feeling arises.

Questions to ask yourself when you feel anxious:

1. Am I being carried away by my thoughts? What are the physical sensations I can focus on right now?

  • examples: the chair you're sitting on, the sounds around you, the people around you, the room you're in...

2. What am I afraid of? Are my fears based in reality?

  • is there proof or evidence for this fear?

3. What advice would I give to a friend in a similar situation? Think of comforting words you would share and give them to yourself
