 Mindfulness about Technology

We interact with technology, in one form or the other almost every day. This could be social media, messaging, school work, and more recently, staying connecting through online platforms like Zoom.

While our technology is a vital tool, especially during COVID-19, it can affect us in detrimental ways if we’re not mindful about our usage of technology. Here are some questions to help you reflect on the presence of technology in your life.

1. What kind of technology or online tool do you spend the most time on (social media, online classes/courses, entertainment, etc)?

2. What is your primary purpose of your technology usage (to relax, to connect with others, to learn)?

3. Which parts of your life are the most affected by technology and how? How do you think life would be different without it, in both the positive and negative ways?

Learning how to be more mindful about technology can improve our wellbeing. It can help use our screen time wisely and carefully while allowing us to enjoy the positive parts of tech. Here’s an article that lists several ways to change how technology works in your life.
