More on Self Compassion
Self compassion includes learning how to forgive yourself, how to recognize your ups and downs, and learning how to mediate your inner critic. Ways that you can practice self compassion:
forgiveness for yourself
maybe a little note (a post it or a phone reminder) telling your inner voice to be gentle today.
expressing gratitude: check out gratitude activities and exercises
practice the right level of generosity: balancing your needs and others’ needs in a healthy way.
today’s act of kindness: plant one tree for one dollar
mindfulness: lessen harsh judgment upon yourself when you are aware of the present moment rather than self criticisms, etc.
Come back to these things once in a while and ask yourself if you feel a difference when you practice these things? When you don't?

The Power of Vulnerability
Brené Brown, a research professor, discusses and studies “human connection -- our ability to empathize, belong, love” (TED). She says that “Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do.”. I think that this is important in learning self compassion - learning that who we are is okay and that we can connect with others over shared stories.
